Prolouge

The Prologue starts from Kåfjord - from zero altitude to the Haldde summit at 904 meters above sea level. The route is stunning, and of great historical interest.

  • The winning - and record - time of 50:50 minutes was set by the stage winner Geir Ludvig Aasen Ouren in 2011
  • The ascent is approximately 900 meters
  • It is possible to cycle all the way, but technically demanding
  • The route follows a cart road which becomes increasingly rocky toward the summit

The average team result in the prologue forms the basis of the starting order and the time difference between the teams as they start in downtown Alta. For teams of 3 riders the average time is multiplied by 2.

The prolouge 2011 was sponsored by Økonor who gave a prize of 5000 NOK to the first rider to the top.
